Just try to imagine a whole freaking village – and we mean everyone – dividing into two teams to play soccer.
The match usually begins at 2 pm every year somewhere before Easter in the village of Ashbourne, UK, when hundreds of people gather and start playing soccer between two three-miles-apart ‘goals’.
One of the best things about Shrovetide football is the rules, or a lack thereof. The only real regulation of this sport is “no murder,” as fist fights and picking the ball up with your hands are completely normal.
