After you tie the knot, the games usually stop being games and they become reality. The social expectations associated with marriage tend to alter the way you perceive both yourself and your partner.

“Assuming the role of husband and wife is one of the most important social roles,” says University of Massachusetts psychology professor Susan Krauss Whitbourne. “In studies, husbands and wives place their family identity as the most important aspect in their sense of self.”

Of course, this shifts in identity doesn’t mean that you have to say goodbye to roleplaying in the bedroom. Bedroom is definitely off limits and it is even recommended that you return to that pre-marriage-phase you every once in a while.
