Unless you are 70, don’t wear a sweater vest on a date. If you are, good for you! A sweater vest can make you look geeky, senior, and in certain cases even snobbish.
A sweater vest is meant either for old people, boarding school students or royalty. If you are neither of those, opt for another garment.
A vest of any kind should be avoided and there is no way around that.
The only other option for you to wear a vest is at your own wedding under a suit jacket, but you won’t get there if you wear a sweater vest on your date.
Sweater vests aren’t sexy and you want to look sexy by accentuating your strong physical features and downplaying the weaker ones. You run the risk of looking like a prep school boy that mommy dressed up for picture day at school.
