The recent success of Marvel’s “Avengers” could lead you to believe that superhero movies will always find an audience, but the “Green Lantern” didn’t seem to please anyone.
Ryan Reynolds in the lead role should have appealed to adults, and the imaginative action sequences should have thrilled younger viewers.
Sadly, the “Green Lantern” just seems to be a string of action sequences involving the creation of weird weapons like a giant fist.
What could have been one of the greatest superhero movies of all time is too light hearted and fails to create any real tension or excitement.
The creation of “Green Lantern” was fraught with difficulties from the very beginning. The studio first approached renowned Indie filmmaker Kevin Smith to write the script for the movie but the director turned them down. Hollywood executives then considered turning the move into a comedy and Jack Black was even considered for the role.

However, this idea was met with anger from the fans of the comic book which forced executives to quickly change tactic. The studio then considered a number of other options before finally settling on Greg Berlanti along with comic book writers Michael Green and Mark Guggenheim.
