It was at this point that the already established Appleton Estate rum company decided to set aside barrels of several different blends in order to age them for 50 years.
And the results were exquisite. In 2012, Jamaica celebrated 50 years of independence, and the people celebrated the existence of the oldest barrel-aged rum in the world by enjoying its ultra-smooth flavor.
