7 Tablets That Put the iPad to Shame

5. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition)

Another device released by Samsung with the intent of dethroning an Apple product, the Galaxy Note 10.1 was first released in late 2011 to combat the original and second generation iPad.

Now Samsung is preparing to release a brand new Galaxy Note 10.1 for 2014, combining the best features of the past with a few new ones to help knock the iPad down a peg.

As with other tablets, it is more about the extra features that the Note 10.1 offers that an iPad does not. The Galaxy Note comes with the aforementioned S-Pen and its pressure sensitive capacitive touch features. Additional extras include multi-tasking and expandable memory.

New to the 2014 edition of the Galaxy Note 10.1 are display upgrades, performance improvements, and some changes to build features. The Note 10.1 will feature a superior 2560×1600 display, 8-core Octa processor, and an 8 MP rear-facing camera teamed up with a 2 MP front-facing camera. A nice change in the build, the new Note 10.1 will come with a faux-leather back cover which is a nice change from the grimy plastic covers of old.

Pros: Multi-tasking performance and expandable memory in an equally priced package compared to iPads. Greater specs this year compared to previous models.

Cons: The S-Pen, often a major selling point, is still a niche feature that is useful to fewer people than Samsung might like to admit.
