7 Tablets That Put the iPad to Shame

6. Sony Xperia Tablet Z

Sony made a big splash at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year in Las Vegas, literally. Along with a new line of smartphones, the television manufacturer showed off some new tablets that wowed viewers.

The biggest splash of all for the Japanese tech giant was the Xperia Tablet Z.

That splash of course is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Tablet Z’s waterproof design. Both the new Xperia Z and Tablet Z devices unveiled at CES by Sony are waterproof for up to 30 minutes, meaning there is less fear in the mind of consumers who use their tablet all over the house that one stray spill is going to destroy a $500 device.

Aside from that novelty however, Sony knocked it out of the park with a tablet that has a sleek, lightweight design that hides a powerful and capable machine inside.

The combination of appearance and performance makes the Tablet Z more than suitable for the office or the home entertainment system.

The Tablet Z has a full assortment of extra features courtesy of Sony, such as IR blaster capabilities, and a full HD display equal to that of many competitors. Priced at $499, the Tablet Z is right up there with the iPad and other competitors in the full-size tablet market.

Pros: Water and dust-resistant, full-HD display, and pricing equal to that of the competition in its niche within the market. Sharp, sleek design that is lighter than both the Galaxy Note 10.1 and iPad.

Cons: Poor camera quality is shocking from a veteran company in the camera industry like Sony, and the lack of a greater display than are a bit stunning.
