8 Tips to Help You Survive the Emotional Rollercoaster of Divorce
4. Bask in Your Accomplishments
If nothing else, keep in mind that few people are likely to think less of you for taking that time to think of yourself and seek reasons to be happy.
It is easy to get down on yourself during the course of a divorce, particularly when you cannot meet all of the goals you set forth for yourself. Some of this is the result of expectations that are too lofty or simply mismanaged. Often we think a big list of tasks is a good idea without realizing that some tasks will take longer than expected or be more difficult.
So when you accomplish a task, no matter how little, take some time to yourself to make a note of that accomplishment and celebrate it in a small way. It can be something as simple as becoming a better cook for yourself or successfully getting the kids to sleep by yourself without tantrums. Whatever the accomplishment, make note of it and use it to boost your morale.
