For all you Expendables fans out there, here we have some good news. Nu Image / Millennium studios have announced the 4th installment of their action-packed, star-studded franchise, despite the rumors that The Expendables are being re-developed for small screens in a form of a TV series.

‘Phew’ anyone? The 4th installment should start shooting next year and is scheduled for a 2017 release.

Good Old-Fashioned Shoot-Out

Executive producer, Steven Paul, has recently talked about the upcoming sequel and revealed that Expendables 4 wouldn’t happen without the huge success Expendables 3 had in China.

The third installment earned almost half of its worldwide money from China ($80m out of $200 total), so it seems China’s thirst for old-school action flicks is keeping this franchise alive.

“What seems to work in their favor in China, is that these movies are good old-fashioned shoot ’em up entertainment,” said Steven in a recent interview.

As far as the cast is concerned, there’s no info on which stars will be reprising their roles. The director is also still kept under wraps.

Will Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas appear together on-screen once again? We will find out soon again.
