We have to admit that we kinda got used to the car industry being innovative every step of the way. That being said, it’s not hard to feel disappointment when a new model comes out without sporting the latest tech or without inventing something new.

Luckily for us, as well as many of you, Tesla is here to deliver! As of today, their Model S sedan will come equipped with many self-driving features.

A Whole New World

Yes, you read that right – the Model S isn’t only Tesla’s flagship sedan anymore, but also a pioneer in the car autopilot effort.

Before you get overly hyped, let’s be clear that this doesn’t mean the Model S – as well as the upcoming Model X – are going to have a fully operational autopilot mode. Nonetheless, some fine progress has been made in the field.

According to Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and for many a great visionary, the new 7.0 software version for Model S will be able to steer down the highway, adjust the car’s speed according to the traffic around it, and even change lanes all by itself.

Musk also warned drivers that they shouldn’t “abdicate responsibility” just yet, as these are only minor parts of the whole driving process.

But if you ask us, this is more than we could ask for – here’s hoping this change is only the first in the series of events which will eventually lead us to owning cars with legitimate autopilot technology.
