GeoTracker

8. Geo Tracker

It’s difficult to come down hard on Chevy for the design and concept of the GEO Tracker. On the one hand, the automaker was going for a vehicle that offered the perfect combination of outdoor ruggedness and a fun, youthful vibe.

What it created instead was a vehicle that was confusing at best, and downright girlie at its worst. The Tracker is no longer made, but that doesn’t mean you don’t occasionally see people driving them to a camping weekend or day at the beach.

The Tracker was well-intentioned. With a two-door design, seating for four, and removable top, it was meant to offer the best of both worlds. The Tracker offered the ability to pile your buddies inside and take off for a day trip into the mountains for a hike or go camping. At the same time, it wasn’t a clunky SUV and could transform into a hip street ride in town.

Whatever fan base Chevy was hoping to attract with the Tracker, the automaker failed miserably in attracting the right kind of market. Most men would have stayed away from the Tracker. As an off-road vehicle it was underpowered and lacked the space to carry any equipment with. As a street vehicle it handled poorly and in general looked out of place as an SUV-convertible mix. Odds are, most women are not going to come running your way when you roll up in a Tracker.
